Knowing the God of Comfort

November 4, 2018 • Dr. Danny Lovett

Even though, we're God’s children, we still have problems. Second Timothy 2:3 says for us to "endure hardness as good soldiers of Jesus Christ." If you lose your job, if you lose your health, if the forces of evil seem to be attacking you, if the economy is not working in your favor, and you're not happy with the election results, or if your friends turn away and everything is going wrong, you may want to just be disappointed in God. You may want to resent the Lord. I may have doubts and questions about what God's doing. I may not like how he's running the world, but... I must continue to do one thing. I must continue to rejoice in the Lord. He is our strength, He is our rock, He is our salvation (Psalm.27:1). This Sunday, the title of the message is Knowing the God of Comfort. We will take a look at how we can have comfort in uncomfortable times.

Knowing the God who is our Judge and Father

Far too often when people discuss God, they ignore His justice and judgement and only emphasize His love. This is dangerous, for God’s nature is both loving and just. In fact, God’s justice and judgement are based on His love. It is God’s love for all who truly believe in and trust Him that arouses His righteous judgement to strike out against those who mistreat His followers. Furthermore, God requires that His holy name be honored. It's so important that this is included as one of the Ten Commandments. God will execute vengeance on all who reject, neglect, and curse His Holy Name. This Sunday's message is Knowing The God Who is Our Judge and Father.

Knowing a Powerful God

October 7, 2018 • Dr. Danny Lovett

Seldom in history has there been a more urgent need for heroes of strong righteous character for our young men and women than today. We live in a time of great immortality, wickedness, injustice, oppression, and greed, a time when few individuals step up to take a stand for justice and righteousness. Daniel was born into a day like ours, an age of terrible immorality, lawlessness, and violence when there was little justice or righteousness on earth. Yet he rose above it. Despite the temptations and the enticements of a vastly different culture, Daniel stood strong for the Lord, even in the face of scheming, hatred, and certain death penalties. This Sunday we will be looking at Knowing a Powerful God. Daniel could stand strong because he knew his God.
