Biblical principles for Financial blessings

January 27, 2019 • Dr. Danny Lovett

I’m not sure why, but preachers always seem to feel the need to come up with gimmicks or stories to use right before the offering, to motivate people to give. I’ve never felt the need to concoct anything like that in our church. The Word of God gives us so many amazing reasons for giving to Him, that we shouldn’t need any gimmicks to motivate people to give. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we find five motives which, when recognized, result in generous giving to God and His work. "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9). These principles lead to financial blessings for the Church and the giver. Let's open God's word together!

Do you have a vision

During the month of January, we're looking at "How to Have a Healthy Church". In the Old Testament, during the time of the Babylonian exile, we find that the people of God and the city of Jerusalem were in terrible condition. The temple was a mess and the wall around the city was falling down. The Jews desperately needed someone who had a vision to restore Jerusalem to her former glory. They needed someone whose heart had been captured by God and was set on fire by God’s Spirit. God had such a man! His name was Nehemiah. God was preparing to use him to restore the city of God's people. We might not have ever suspected that the next great leader in Israel was currently serving as the cup bearer to the Babylonian king Artaxeres. While you and I may be a thousands of years removed from the time of Nehemiah, even so, we live in a nation that desperately needs people of vision. We can become those people! We can become the people God uses for His glory in these days to make a difference for His name's sake! Remember Proverbs 29:18 says, "where there no vision, the people perish, but he that keeps the law, happy is he.” This Sunday we will look at three simple facts presented in Nehemiah chapter one that teach us how to become people of vision.oiyiyturyjhdglsm;m,'kk,k ,m;vjlhohvvv;jjovhocjo;joc0vdkc[p l[lpkvkpobjovjvju9cjccdvhd

Marks of a Healthy Church

January 6, 2019 • Dr. Danny Lovett

January is a time of fresh beginnings. We'll begin 2019 with a mini-series on How to have a Healthy Church. During Sunday morning Bible Study, we'll be studying what the Bible says about handling our finances so that we can become financially healthy. According to Ephesians 4:11-13, God gave the church her spiritual leaders for the purpose of promoting spiritual growth within the body of Christ. God wants us to move from the spiritual nursery to the spiritual battlefield. II Peter 3:18 says “we are to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Join us this Sunday as we focus on our spiritual and financial health. We begin by listening to what Paul says are The Marks of a Healthy Church from Ephesians 4.
