December 24, 2016 • Pastor Bill West

(Luke 2:8-14) The angels sang about a Joy that they would never experience. Jesus’ came to bring joy to those who were far from God. The joy of forgiveness, the joy of reconciliation with God and of the joy of peace in a world where we long for it but can never find it. This Christmas Eve we will focus on the JOY that Jesus brings.

Simeon’s Song: Waiting

December 18, 2016 • Pastor Bill West

(Luke 2:28-35) Simeon sang because his waiting was over-he had now seen what God had promised him would happen. Simeon waited faithfully and patiently and God came through. We can wait and know that God will fulfill all that He has promise to us. The real question is not What are we waiting for? But, who are we becoming while we wait.

December 11, 2016 • Pastor Bill West

Zechariah sang because he KNEW God keeps his promises. God was faithful in the past and he will be faithful in the future. The coming of Jesus is God making good on promises that he had made from the beginning of creation. The second half of his song is about John the Baptist Halfway through he switches from the past tense to the future. God keeps His promises.

Mary’s Song: Anticipation

December 4, 2016 • Pastor Bill West

Mary’s response to God’s words to her through the angel was to sing. Her song is in the past tense. Through the promise the angel makes to Mary, she trusts IT HAS HAPPENED. Mary had hope that God would accomplish what he had promised. You and I can live with anticipation and hope as we trust God to do what He has promised to us.
