A commitment to sexual purity can be a challenge. We need filters to protect three places of vulnerability in our lives: the eyes, the mind, and the heart. Unwise decisions in the area of sexuality often begin with "the eyes."

The heart is more complex because it deals with who we really are at the core. There are many places our heart will drift to if we allow it. Everything flows from the heart. Guard your heart!

Making a covenant with our eyes is extremely important, but it can have its limitations. It can work well when avoiding staring at strangers or sources of media. Yet, we may still find it a challenge with individuals we interact on a regular basis or in environments that are difficult to avoid. Having mind filters allows us to establish another layer of defense against sexual immorality.

We all have different views when it comes to issues of sexuality. Yet, many of us agree that we've made decisions in the area of sexuality that we regret. We may have shared intimate moments with someone who proved to be untrustworthy. We may have compromised our values or ignored our conscience. We may have made decisions in the moment without thinking about the long-term ramifications.
