Over time, we can become so used to our skill that we loose our passion. We find ourselves going through the motions. We’re just on the grind and the heart that we had when we first began gets lost. We loose our creativity and edge. We stop being innovative and unique, and begin focusing on surviving. We settle for average. In this message pastor Jumaine discusses the sour patch of survival and three ways we can reignite your passion. God wants us to be the most creative and innovative people on the planet.

Staying The Course

Often in life we may find ourselves in a good place (sweet spot) when everything seems to be going well for us and then without notice things can turn for the worse and you find yourself suddenly facing hardships and challenges (sour patches). We are faced with the decision to either stay the course, trusting in God and seeking His Word for guidance and direction or give up, try and figure things out on our own. The bottom line is that finding joy, happiness, guidance and direction during challenging times requires us to stay the course which means walking with God by giving Him your full heart, staying obedient to His Word, being prayed up, living out His Word, and giving Him total Praise daily even during the hard times.

Irresponsibility

There’s a tension between our influence factor and income factor. We can become so driven to be so influential that we are irresponsible in areas of our lives that truly matter, such as our financial stewardship. It is possible to touch the lives of others while your bills are unpaid and your family goes hungry. This is especially true of a person that is married. Paul says a single person can focus on the things of the Lord, but a married person must be concerned with things of the world and how to please their spouse. Today, on our 8th Anniversary of ministry in the downtown Silver Spring area, we discuss the sour patch of irresponsibility and how we can avoid using our sweet spot as an excuse to be irresponsible.

Burnout

There’s a tension between our skill factor and influence factor. It seems like everything we do is “necessary.” We want to do work that we enjoy and feels that everything we do matters. As a result, we justify not stopping to take the rest that we need and find ourselves stressed and burned out. This week we dive into part 2 of the sour patch of "burnout".
