Out of Body Experience

January 28, 2024 • Bishop Cornelius Williams • Ephesians 2:3–7

"Out of Body Experience" is an intriguing title that can lead one to imagine a frightening occurrence. However, in the context of spirituality, it can have a completely different meaning. Our spirit is a vital part of who we are. We are a spirit FIRST! It is the essence of our being that gives us life and enables us to connect with God. In the book of Ephesians 2:3-7, the apostle Paul speaks of our spiritual state before and after we become followers of Christ.

Before we become believers, we are spiritually dead in our sins. We are disconnected from God and have no hope of eternal life. But when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are made alive in Him. Our spirits are reborn, and we become new creations in Christ. We are no longer bound by our sin but are free to live in righteousness and holiness.

This transformation is a powerful and life-changing experience. It is like an out-of-body experience, where we are no longer controlled by our physical bodies but are guided by the Holy Spirit. We are able to see the world from a new perspective and live in a way that reflects the love and grace of God. So let us embrace this out-of-body experience and live as new creations in Christ, guided by the power of the Holy Spirit.
