HIS story, My Story

Isaiah 53: The Saving God

February 21, 2021 • Ron Moore

Three views regarding the meaning of communion: 1. Transubstantiation: After a priest blesses bread and cup, the elements are changed into the body and blood of Jesus. “Eucharist” or “Mass.” 2. Consubstantiation: The body and blood of Jesus are “with, in, and under” the bread and wine, but not literally the bread and wine. Spiritually, the flesh and blood of Jesus. 3. Remembrance (Memorial): Calling to mind what Jesus did for us on the cross and a celebration of what we receive as a result of his sacrifice. When we take communion what are we to remember? We remember and celebrate the work of Jesus—his death, burial, and resurrection. • The training and protection of sexuality are first and foremost the family’s responsibility. • Dating and engagement demand disciplined sexual desire. • The wedding night is worth waiting for and begins continued intimacy and fulfillment. • God designed sex to unite a husband and wife … not divide them. Job

February 7, 2021 • Ron Moore

Can I believe God when life doesn’t make sense? Can I trust God when I can’t explain Him? Is God enough? Character of Job: Blameless: Absence certain observable sinful acts. Honesty. Marital faithfulness. Just treatment of people who worked for him. Generosity to the poor. Avoidance of idolatry. He was not perfect but he was morally whole. Upright: Straight—in the sense that he did not deviate from God’s standards. Feared God: He lived with a reverence for God. He respected God by keeping God’s Laws. Devoted worshipper of YHWH. Turned away from evil: He not only did what was right, but he was intentional about what avoiding what was wrong. • God is gracious. • God is just. • God is great. We will not always be able to explain our suffering or the suffering of those we love. Within our suffering, as hard as it is, we have to ask—“God, what do you want to teach me?” Will we use suffering for redemptive purposes? Will I offer my suffering to God for his redemptive purposes? Courage to Stand: Esther

God has placed you—in your age group, circumstances, position—to do his sovereign work in this strategic time. • THE SOVEREIGN GOD IS DIRECTLY AT WORK ON THE WORLD STAGE. God’s dominion is total: he wills as he chooses and carries out all that he wills, and none can stay his hand or thwart his plans. -J. I. Courage to Lead: Nehemiah

January 24, 2021 • Ron Moore

EVANGELICALS • The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, authoritative Word of God. • There is one God existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. • Jesus is fully-God fully-man (virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, resurrection, ascension, return) • Ministry of the Holy Spirit • Salvation by grace alone in Christ alone by faith alone. • Heaven and Hell based on a personal relationship with Jesus. Three Major Leadership Themes Running Through Nehemiah’s Story 1. Godly leadership demands internal passion. 2. A godly leader understands the greatness of God. 3. Godly leaders depend on God. Teaching Worship

November 15, 2020 • Ron Moore

Worship is displaying the worth of God.   Essence of worship   Expression of worship God is merciful: He loves us. He sent Jesus to die for us. He gives the Holy Spirit to us. He forgives us (cancels our debt). He redeems us (buys us out of slavery). He justifies us (gives us a right standing). He sanctifies us (sets us apart) He glorifies us (takes us to heaven) In worship our inner values become visible. God of Redemption

October 4, 2020 • Dave DiDonato

Genesis 3:15 - Protoevangelium - First Gospel God redeems people from sin and death God redeems people by the blood of Jesus Christ God redeems people to new life in Jesus for eternity “Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: "ye were bought at a price," and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered Him up for us.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Cost of Discipleship God desires to use your redemption story to continue writing his redemption story BIBLE 2020 We want to invite you to join the Bible2020 challenge and read the entire Bible in 2020.
