All I Want For Christmas is LOVE

December 18, 2022 • Ron Moore

What is love? Where does it come from? What does it look like? Today we will consider one of the most known verses of the Bible. Our focus will be on God’s love and what he did to show it in a self-sacrificing way. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. --------- DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH RON MOORE Get Ron’s Daily Devotional to your inbox each morning; visit http://biblechapel.org/devo. All I Want For Christmas is JOY

December 11, 2022 • Ron Moore • Ecclesiastes 2:1–2, Hebrews 11:24–25, Luke 2:10–11, James 1:2–4

What is joy? Where can I find it? How can I develop it? There are nine Hebrew words translated as “joy” in the Old Testament. They describe:  A deep feeling Taking delight in someone or something Joyfulness that accompanies music Taking pleasure in something Shouting for joy Where Do I Find Joy? There are two kinds of joy: Temporal and Eternal Temporal joy is found in the world. Temporal joy is not all bad. However, it will never bring lasting satisfaction (Eccl 2:1-2). And certainly, sin is enjoyable for a season (Heb 11:24-25), but the consequences are significant (Gal 6:7).  Temporal joy is found in the world. Joy for today and forever is experienced only in Jesus. Temporal joy is circumstantial. Eternal joy is positional. DEVELOPING JOY 1. Engage daily in God’sWord in a meaningful way.  2. Engage daily in meaningful prayer. 3. Obedience 4. Trials 5. Focus on Jesus What was the joy of the cross?  The joy of doing the Father’s will (Obedience). The joy of providing the way to God (Salvation).  The joy of paying sin’s penalty once and for all (Substitutionary Atonement). The joy of defeating death and Satan (Resurrection). The joy of celebrating his completed work (Exaltation).  The joy of living in us through the Holy Spirit (Indwelling Presence). The joy of his return (Second Advent). The joy in presenting us blameless us to the Father (Justification: Declared not guilty and righteous).  Joy for today and forever is experienced only in Jesus. --------- DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH RON MOORE Get Ron’s Daily Devotional to your inbox each morning; visit http://biblechapel.org/devo. All I Want For Christmas is HOPE

November 27, 2022 • Dave DiDonato • Matthew 5:14–16, Proverbs 10:28, 1 Peter 1:3–5, Proverbs 11:7, John 1:4–9

Without Jesus, the unbeliever has perishing hope, and hell will be their eternal home. (Proverbs 10:28, Proverbs 11:7, Ephesians 2:12, Job 8:13, Job 27:8)   The believer’s living hope resides in Jesus, our resurrected Savior. (1 Peter 1:3)   First Advent > Believer’s Living Hope > Second Advent   In our eternal home, we’ll never experience decay, destruction, or death. (1 Peter 1:4-5, 1 Corinthians 15:52, 1 Peter 1:23)   In our eternal home, we’ll never experience sin, corruption, or pain. (1 Peter 1:4-5, Hebrews 13:4, 1 John 3:3)   In our eternal home, we’ll never experience darkness, only the light of Christ. (1 Peter 1:4-5, John 1:4-9, Revelation 21:23)   The believer’s living hope in Jesus needs to shine bright in this dark world.
