Author and Perfecter: Galatians 4:1-7

WHO WE ARE – ACCORDING TO PAUL IN GALATIANS 4:1-7
1. Who You Were (4:1-3)
2. How God Changed You (4:4-5)
3. Who You Are (4:6-7)

Galatians 4:1-7
I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything, 2 but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. 3 In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Galatians 4:4
• Deity: To be the Son of God was to be equal to God.
• Pre-existence: Sent forth implies he already existed
• Born of a woman: Virgin birth—foundational truth.

Jesus was the eternal fully God and fully man.

• Born under the law: Subjected himself to live under the law and did so perfectly. Even though he was tempted in every way as a man—he never sinned.

Hebrews 10:1-18: The understanding of our freedom in Christ. Hebrews 10:19-25: The practice of our freedom in Christ. OT sacrifices produced an imperfect cleansing that provided temporary freedom. v.1-4 Jesus’ supreme sacrifice produced a perfect cleansing that provides everlasting freedom. v.5-18 MORE THAN WORDS - PRAYING THROUGH THE BIBLE More Than Words: Praying Through The Bible - formerly called Bible 2020 - is an interactive group that follows along with daily devotionals from Ron Moore focused on the prayers of the Bible. Jesus is the exact imprint of God’s nature. 5. Jesus upholds the universe by the word of his power. 6. Jesus is the perfect and complete sacrifice for sin. 7. Jesus is seated in power and authority.
