In the story of Jesus’ birth, we learn a significant attribute of God: He is sovereign over all things. He is in control of history. He holds the heart of every ruler in his hand. Jeremiah 1:12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.” In God’s eternal mind with his eternal power, he controls history in accordance with his eternal plan. Christian joy is not circumstantial; it is relational. Joy is not based on my circumstances, but on my relationship with Jesus. That relationship can never change.
