Servant Leader of God

February 18, 2024 • Ron Moore • Ezra 7, Ezra 6:22, James 1:22–24, Ezra 6:16

Ezra was God’s man for the job. Ezra 7:10 explains Ezra’s passion.

Ezra set his heart…

Ezra “set his heart” to follow hard after God. The Hebrew word translated “set” הֵכִ֣ין means to be to be firm and steadfast—to be committed to do something. It describes a whole-hearted devotion. Ezra was determined that he would not be distracted or discouraged. He arranged his life to keep this commitment. Ezra followed the greatest commandment that Jesus taught about. He loved “the Lord his God with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength” (Mark 12:29-30).

Ezra set his heart to study God’s Word

Study means to search out, to read repeatedly, to discuss. The Arabic version of the word means to “beat a path.” A path was made through a field due to the constant traffic. Studying means that we are beating a path by constant traffic in God’s Word.

Ezra set his heart to do God’s Word

God’s Word must be put into practice. James says that studying God’s Word and not doing it is like seeing your face in a mirror and then forgetting what you look like (James 1:22-24). We must be those who know God’s Word and do it.

Ezra set his heart to teach God’s Word to others.

Teaching the Bible begins in the home. Parents are the primary teachers of their children. This means that we must study and apply the Word so our children will see what we teach makes an impact in real life.

Repentance & Renewal

March 17, 2024 • Ron Moore • Ezra 10, Ezra 9, Psalm 51:1, 2 Corinthians 7:9–10

Repentance consists of four connecting parts - the “Circle of Repentance”: ·     Repentance begins with awareness. ·     Awareness moves us to godly sorrow. ·     Godly sorrow drives us to the Person of God. ·     The power of God allows us to change. -------- DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH RON MOORE Get Ron’s Daily Devotional to your inbox each morning; visit http://biblechapel.org/devo. Revival Begins In The Heart

March 10, 2024 • Ron Moore • Ezra 9, Psalm 139:23–24, John 6:44–45, Acts 11:18, 2 Timothy 2:25

Repentance begins with an awareness of sin.   How do we become aware of our sins?   ·     When we read God’s Word daily. ·     When the Holy Spirit convicts us. ·     When we are confronted with our rebellion. ·     When we are instructed in our ignorance. ·     When we are challenged in our indifference.   The Believer’s Daily Prayer for awareness of sin   Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! -------- DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH RON MOORE Get Ron’s Daily Devotional to your inbox each morning; visit http://biblechapel.org/devo.
