Real Life: Lawsuits

Real Talk: Conversations from Corinth

March 1, 2020 • Dave DiDonato

AS A BELIEVER

You were washed: Eternally cleansed of your sin and a new creation in Christ.

You were sanctified: set apart with your eternal position in Jesus and “called out” with all believers to represent Him.

You were justified: declared righteous before God by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus for your sin.

AS THE WSJ CHURCH

“Don’t you dare” take internal church issues and parade them in the public marketplace.

“Don’t you know” there’s a God-ordained process to handle internal conflict?

“Don’t you know” it’s best to first seek a believer’s counsel over an unbeliever’s counsel?

“Don’t you know” the Gospel should never remain stagnant but permeate every area of our lives?

Real Life: Sacrifice for Others

March 22, 2020 • Ron Moore

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.” - Jeremiah 32:17 The subject of 1 Corinthians 8 is eating meat offered to idols. The issue of the passage is that some people believed it was okay to eat meat offered to idols and others believed it was a sin. But the heart of this passage is found in the last verse of the chapter - Believers will make needed sacrifices for other believers. 1. CONFIDENCE + COMPASSION = ENCOURAGEMENT GOD’S WORD GIVES US CONFIDENCE. GOD’S LOVE GIVES US COMPASSION. 2. USE DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TO MAJOR ON THE MAJORS. 3. DEVELOP A HEART OF SACRIFICE. Real Life: Confidence and Contentment

1. Accept the present situation as God’s assignment. Psalm 16:7-8 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. 2. Our present situation reminds us to live with an eternal perspective. Psalm 73:23-28 Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you. But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. 3. Turn off the news and open your Bible. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. 4. Let anxiety be the trigger for prayer. Philippians 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. 5. Use the present situation to tell others about Jesus. Matthew 9:36 When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. STRONG CHRISTIAN HOMES ARE ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL STATEMENTS THAT JESUS TRANSFORMS AND CHANGES LIVES. TWO BIBLICAL GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE Adultery Abandonment While issues other than adultery and abandonment cannot be claimed to be explicit grounds for divorce, separation should occur, and ultimately divorce may occur, for safety and protection of spouse and/or children.
