A parable is a story or an illustration that us used to teach a bigger truth. In the parable of the Sower, we find out that Jesus uses an everyday situation to describe a supernatural possibility.

Those of us who consider ourselves spiritually sophisticated at avoiding truth will often seek to excuse ourselves. Often silencing the truth with a thousand definitions and a thousand qualifications. Sometimes we redefine the question so that it becomes unanswerable. When that doesn't work, we define the answer so that it no longer applies.
