Solemnity of Mary, the Most Holy Mother of God • January 1, 2014 • Fr. Rodolfo D. Vásquez

Mary, Untier of Knots
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (2013) • August 15, 2013 • Fr. Rodolfo D. Vásquez
As the New Eve, Mary is the "Untier" of the knots of disobedience and unbelief that lead us to face obstacles of our own making. St. Irenaeus of Lyons, in his work Adversus haereses (Against Heresies) writes: "the knot of Eve's disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary. For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief, this did the virgin Mary set free through faith." (Bk. III Ch. 22)
