This Sunday we kick off our new series in the book of Philippians: Gospel Joy in Troubled Times. We're in a moment when many of us feel anxiety and uncertainty about the future, the sadness of separation from loved ones and from the church, and concern for our own health and the health of others. It was in the midst of similar circumstances that Paul wrote to the church in Philippi. Though not in the midst of a global pandemic, Paul was in prison and unable to be physically with the church he loved. As he looked ahead at an uncertain future, Paul encouraged the church to remember that God is in the hardest things, all the way to the bottom, working for his glory and his people's joy.
