Bottom line: Communion is the expression of our appreciation for God's blessings of salvation.

The Lord's Supper is truly the original thanksgiving meal. When we partake of the Lord's Supper we have an opportunity to express our thanksgiving for Jesus' crucifixion (i.e. substitution in our place), our salvation, our communion with Jesus and other believers, our anticipation of His return, and our proclamation of the gospel.
