Bottom line: When I trust God to give the “more than I need,” then I can be used by God to bless others that are in need.

Jesus warns us that our lives do not consist of the stuff we own, i.e. we're not to equate life with our possessions. We can be rich toward our self but not at the expense of being rich toward God. We are rich toward God when we give to those who are important to God. If we are only rich toward our self, when we leave this world, it will be a total loss. It (our stuff) will all get left behind. We will be like the rich man in the parable.
