Christmas lights may be coming down, but the Light of the world still shines for all to see. We receive this Light during our Epiphany worship today. The promise that nations will come to the light of the Lord is fulfilled when the Wise Men come from the East. They follow the star and are led to the Light. Jesus is the light that shines the brightness of heaven into the darkness of their hearts. He does the same for you today as you receive His Word. Dispelling the darkness of sin, Christ Jesus will fill you with the light of His presence and invite you, as He did the Wise Men, to bow before Him in honor and praise. Rejoice and be glad—your Light has come!

All Saints Day 2024

This All Saints Sunday, we gather in joyful remembrance of those who have gone before us in the faith, celebrating the incredible love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called His children (1 John 3:1). Through Jesus, we are given the promise of eternal life, a gift that guarantees us a glorious future beyond this world—a life where sorrow fades, tears are no more, and we are forever in the presence of God with all the saints. As we honor the faithful departed, we look forward to that resurrection reunion. As God’s beloved children, we wait, holding on to the promised future that is ours by grace through faith in Christ alone.

Reformation Sunday

It is easy to underestimate the darkness of that time prior to the Reformation. It is just as easy to underestimate the darkness in our own day. On this day, we do not simply recall an event but the work of God recalling His Church to the eternal Gospel. We proclaim with clarity that justification by grace through faith is not some Lutheran quirk but is THE message of Christ and is our greatest treasure. The world still needs to hear about Jesus Christ and His payment for sin because true freedom only comes by God’s grace and is received by faith in Him.
