1st Sunday After Christmas

Contemporary

December 29, 2024

A time to remember. Today we hear how the newborn Jesus, as the firstborn of Mary, was presented in the temple according to God’s law, a command to remember the Lord’s deliverance of His people from slavery in Egypt. Every firstborn was to be a reminder that the Lord still delivers His people. Yet even more than delivering them from oppressors, God was working in Christ to deliver all people from slavery to sin and death. Today and every day is a time to remember how Christ has delivered us to life everlasting with Him.
