This Lent we are coordinating an intergenerational discipleship program called “Prayer Pals.” The goal of this program is to help foster positive intergenerational discipleship relationships between our youth and mature adult followers of Jesus in our congregation. These intergenerational discipleship relationships have been shown to be a tremendous blessing to youth and make an enormous difference in youth retaining their faith as they enter adulthood. To learn more about this important program, as well as how to get involved, please see the information below: Schedule: 9:00 – 9:30am – Playground time Youth arrive and play on playground with Pastor John and a volunteer. 9:30 -10:00am – Adult Prayer Pals Arrive – Group Activities & Snack Adult (Prayer Pals) arrive and participate in fun activities and snack time as a group. Pastor John will plan and lead these activities. 10:00 – 10:20am – One-on-one devotional time Adult and youth Prayer Pals will sit down together in more of a one-on-one environment and go through an age-specific Lenten devotional together. During this time, the adult Prayer Pals are encouraged to use the Lenten devotional resource as an opportunity to share about their own faith, to ask their youth Prayer Pal good questions, to listen well, and to lead their youth Prayer Pal in prayer. This will take place on the tables directly outside the chapel. The adults and children will have their own tables to meet one on one. However, the group will still be together so that we are following all of our child safety guidelines. 10:20am – Pick Up Parents will come out to the tables outside the chapel and pick up their children for worship. Dates: Sunday 2/26 – Sunday 4/2 The first Sunday in Lent through Palm Sunday A total of 6 Sundays How to get involved: Youth – Parents, if you are interested in having your child participate in the “Prayer Pal” program simply contact Pastor John and he will make sure your child is signed up, assigned an adult “Prayer Pal” and that we order an age-appropriate Lenten devotional for your child. Volunteer – If you would like to serve as an adult Prayer Pal, please contact Pastor John and be prepared to attend an informational Zoom meeting on Thursday 2/23 at 7:30pm when we will go over details and expectations for the Prayer Pal program.
