1 Timothy 1:15 — Here is a true statement that should be accepted without question: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and I am the worst of them.

1 Timothy 1:15 — So here is a statement you can trust, one that fully deserves to be accepted: the Messiah came into the world to save sinners, and I’m the number one sinner!

Romans 8

1 Saul approved the stoning of Stephen. Some faithful followers of the Lord buried Stephen and mourned very much for him.

2 At that time the church in Jerusalem suffered terribly. All of the Lord's followers, except the apostles, were scattered everywhere in Judea and Samaria.

3 Saul started making a lot of trouble for the church. He went from house to house, arresting men and women and putting them in jail.

Acts 9:1-2

Saul kept on threatening to kill the Lord's followers. He even went to the high priest and asked for letters to the leaders of the synagogues in Damascus. He did this because he wanted to arrest and take to Jerusalem any man or woman who had accepted the Lord's Way.

Acts 9

3 So Saul went to Damascus. When he came near the city, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shined around him.

4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”

5 Saul said, “Who are you, Lord?”

The voice answered, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting.

Romans 8:3 — Saul was making trouble for the church…

Philippians 3:8-9

Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ.

1 Timothy 1:15 — Here is a true statement that should be accepted without question: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and I am the worst of them.

Christ came to save sinners.

I am the worst.

The recognition of sin is the beginning of salvation.

— Martin Luther

Romans 3:23 — All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 — The wages of sin is death.

The gospel is open to all; the most respectable sinner has no more claim on it than the worst.

Romans 10:9 — Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The Christian Gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me.

— Tim Keller

1 Corinthians 6

9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,

10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
