Star Party

A Night of Discovery

December 6, 2024
5:00 - 9:00pm

This Fun event gives people the opportunity to see the Night Sky through professional telescopes with Astronomers assisting on the Upper Parking Lot. What better way to celebrate our Advent Theme: The Star by taking time to actually look at the stars and planets God has created. The Event is Free.

Sunset for that night is 4:42 PM. The Moon, Saturn and Jupiter will be up most of the

evening. If you come early, Venus should be visible for about 2 hours after sunset. We will

have on display a Galileo scope which is a working model of the telescope that Galileo used

in 1610 when he discovered the four major moons around Jupiter. When you look through

this model you will see the same image Galileo would have seen.

The Scouts will be selling grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. Desserts and treats will

be sold by Carolyn Collosi with all proceeds going to the non-profit organization Engage to

Go.

The Boy Scouts will also be showing the movie WALL-E.
