How Georgia's Diversionary Courts Are Helping Veterans

March 10, 2020 • Judge Reuben M. Green

Judge Reuben M. Green, a former enlisted U.S. Marine, presides over Veterans Accountability and Treatment Court (VTC) in Cobb Superior Court. Many veterans possess a “warrior mentality” and often don't address their needs for physical and psychological care. VTC seeks to divert eligible veteran defendants with substance dependency and/or mental illness who are charged with criminal offenses to a specialized court, which substitutes a judicially-supervised treatment plan. Judge Green also discusses how Drug Accountability Courts are being used to address the growing opioid crisis in Georgia as well as other specific issues, such as mental illness.

Does the Church Have a Role in Healing the Divide in our Nation?

November 12, 2019 • Rev’d C. Dean Taylor

From Fr. Dean… Have you ever wondered why some people are conservative and some people are liberal? I’ve come across a new, fascinating answer to that question that I would like to share with you. I believe that the insights from this approach will greatly benefit the goal and hope of “unity” that I have heard from you about this next era of St. David’s.
