Abide in Christ
John 15:1-11 • May 30, 2021 • John French
How do we know we are abiding in Christ? 1. Abiding in Christ is fruit bearing (Vs. 6) 2. Abiding in Christ means pruning (vs. 2) 3. Abiding in Christ is ultimately about our joy (Vs. 11) “To abide in Christ means to keep up a habit of constant close communion with Him through His Word and prayer–to be always leaning on Him, resting on Him, pouring out our hearts to Him, and using Him as our Fountain of life and strength, as our chief Companion and best Friend. To have His words abiding in us, is to keep His sayings and precepts continually before our memories and minds, and to make them the guide of our actions and the rule of our daily conduct and behavior.” JC Ryle
The Hands of God and the World to Come
Mark 7:31-37 • March 28, 2021 • Tony Guiles
Mark 7:31-37 (ESV) 1. The WAYS of God are sometimes curious. (v. 31) “Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis.” 2. The HEART of God is moved by our misery. (v 32) "And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him." 3. The HANDS of God reveal his heart and power. (vv. 33-35) “And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue. And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. “ 4. The PURPOSE of God is unfolding and certain. (vv. 36-37) "And Jesus charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Habakkuk 1:5 "Look among the nations and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told."
