Study Questions

 

 

1.    How does the world describe hope? Who or what does the world put their hope in?


2.    A quote by an unknown author says, "Man can live about 40 days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for one second without hope." Do you agree with this? What would it be like to live without any hope at all? 


3.    Read Romans 15:13. According to this verse, where does true hope come from? What are the results of God’s hope? How is it attained? 


4.    Try to put into words what a life that abounds in the hope of Christ looks like in this world. (See also Romans 8:24-25; Titus 2:13; Isaiah 41:10.)


5.    What would you say is the relationship between hope and faith? (See Hebrews 11:1; Romans 5:2-5.)


6.    The Greek word for ‘abound’ means to have an overabundance or more than enough. Give biblical examples of people who lived in this hope – especially in difficult circumstances. Can you identify a person in your life who displays the supernatural hope of God?


7.    What can you do to live in full hope of God? Do others typically see the hope of Christ in you in times of peace or in times of adversity? Explain. How can you better reflect the hope of Christ in both circumstances?
