The story begins with a reckless young soldier in the Vietnam War. Twenty-two years later, he returns as a missionary to the underground church only to be arrested as a suspected CIA operative by the communist authorities. After nearly two weeks of interrogation and detainment, he was expelled and blacklisted. The authorities warned if he ever returned to Vietnam, he would be imprisoned.
