Why We Practice Communion

Last week we began a series entitle “living our mission.” There are a few things that God has called the big C church to do. We all do these things, even if it looks a little different depending on where you go. Last week we talked about baptism as the first ordinance of the church. Today we take a look at communion. Why do we do it? What does is mean? Why do we say things like, this is what our entire service points to? Why do we do it weekly instead of monthly or quarterly?

Over the next several weeks we are going to be talking about God’s will for his Church and as we move down a little, God’s specific call for this iteration of his church. There are some things that aren’t specific to location. They are mandates that are given to every church that claims the name of Jesus. Today we discuss the mandate of baptism. Why do we practice baptism? What does it mean? Why is it important?
