“Confidence in Prayer” - Dr. Doug Melton

 1 John 5:13-15

 Central truth: Confidence in prayer is founded on the assurance that you have eternal life.

1. Confidence: Approaching God because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ

 A. Believing

 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

James 1:5-8

 B. In the name of the Son of God

 “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.“

John 14:13-14

 “This was according to the eternal purpose that He has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in Him.”
