Ex 34
“The Lord (Yahweh), the Lord (Yahweh), the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, Matthew 7:24-27
Therefore everyone who hears these words (sermon on the mount) of mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.
There is a storm a comin’
He is not talking about heaven or hell.
This is NOT about individual “in or out”
I think when we convert these warnings into teachings on bad theology on heaven or hell we are actually making Jesus’ teaching watered down
His teachings were much harder than that
His teachings weren’t about some after life
His teachings were after us living a life of New Creation here and now
He was warning the religious leaders, the people of God, that if they didnt embrace kingdom ethics (sermon on the mount) there was a bad day coming
Rebellion is in the air (simon the zealot)
Character of God - Slow to Anger - God Yahweh God Jesus - Same God? One Seems Nicer
