Exodus
2:17 And the shepherds came and drove them away, but Moses rose up and helped them and watered their flock.
2:18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, Why have you come back so quickly today?
2:19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and he even drew water for us as well and watered the flock.
2:20 And he said to his daughters, And where is he? Why did you leave the man? Invite him to eat a meal.
2:21 And Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.
2:22 And she bore a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.
2:23 And in the course of those many days the king of Egypt died, and the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage. And they cried out, and their cry went up to God because of their bondage.
2:24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
2:25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God took notice of them.
Exodus
3:1 Now Moses was shepherding the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.
3:2 And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a thornbush. And when he looked, there was the thornbush, burning with fire; but the thornbush was not consumed.
3:3 And Moses said, I must turn aside now and see this great sight, why the thornbush does not burn up.
3:4 And when Jehovah saw that he had turned aside to look, God called to him out of the midst of the thornbush and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here I am.
3:5 And He said, Do not come near here. Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.
3:6 And He said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
3:7 And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
