For years I have heard the term church member tossed around. But what is a church member? Is membership something like what we get at Costco, or is it something more?
This week we begin our new series, “I Am a Church Member,” where we dig deeper into the nuisance of church membership and learn that a church member is to be functional.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:21, “21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,” So what do you treasure? This may depend on your circumstance in life. If you find yourself in the cold wilderness miles from civilization, gold, silver or bitcoin, may not be the treasure you need. As members of the body of Christ, the church, we have a treasure that extends beyond this world into eternity. This is a truth that should influence our lives regardless of our situation and circumstance in the here and now.

We have become comfortable in our culture throwing insults and criticism at our leaders, even those within the church. Is there something we could do, as members of the body of Christ, for our church leaders that would be more honoring to our King? More helpful for the body of Christ, its health, its leaders, and future? How about we pray.
