HEAL

with the gospel and miracles

Summary

**SUMMARY** When Jesus sent His disciples to reach new cities, towns and places He told them to preach the gospel, heal the sick and cast out demons, but He didn’t mention other scriptural support such as distributing food, clothing and money to the poor.    Why did Jesus favor supernatural help?   Five reasons: 1. Because people already struggle seeing money and material things as the answer to their problems instead of God. 2. Because God wants people, especially unbelievers, to know that He—personally—is reaching out to help them, and not just other people. 3. Because Jesus wasn’t sending His disciples to stay in these cities, but rather to find someone there whom they could disciple and train. This “Person of Peace,” and others who would come to Christ, could better serve the people there in practical ways. 4. Because a primary strategy of God’s is to perform miracles to open the door for the gospel of salvation through Jesus! 5. Because God desires to transform people with His power so He lets them experience some of it. He gives them “a taste.” ***Psalm 34:8 (NLT)** “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”*   God is accelerating His use of miracles today to open the door for the good news.   One of the highly effective practices that God uses in DMMs & CPMs is “Prayer Walking.” Here’s how it works:   First, you **pray for Direction**, and when God puts a certain city, neighborhood, marketplace, etc. on your heart, and you begin walking around that place and praying for it. Jesus sent His disciples two-by-two, so it’s recommended that you go with at least one other person.   You intentionally **go where unbelievers are**. These are not usually places disciple-makers are comfortable, but where unbelievers are comfortable.   Praying “on-site” is **spiritual soil preparation**. You’re preparing the soil in prayer so that it’s ready for God’s Word to be sown.”   **As you walk around and pray** over the streets and neighborhoods, God will open your eyes to things that are going on there. You will see where people congregate, how people relate to one another, and various needs that people have, and the spiritual climate. God will also lead you to certain people to engage in conversation.   It’s difficult to overstate the impact of prayer walking. It’s **like walking with God through an area** and conversing about how He wants you to start reaching it.   There are four entry points through which virtually all DMMs and CPMs around the world have begun. And there’s an acronym that DMM and CPM Trainers use to help disciple-makers remember them: It’s spelled, “**PIPSY**.”   **P** = the Poor **I** = International (people here from other countries or people groups) **P** = Prisoners **S** = the Sick **Y** normally doesn’t stand for anything but was added to make the acronym flow better when referring to PIPSY people. However, because the overwhelming majority of believers decide to follow Christ when they’re young, we’re going to let the **Y = the Young.**   **WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?** ***Luke 4:18-19** | “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”* ***Matthew 10:7-8** | And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.* ***Mark 16:15–18** | And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”* ____________________________________________________________________ Copyright © Solid Lives, 2021 All rights reserved.

Story

**A “FREE” HEALING PRAYER** A twenty-six year old young lady was dying of renal failure. And worse, she lived a three-day journey into the Himalayas, so acquiring medical attention was difficult. Her family finally brought her to a city where she began dialysis to treat her failing kidneys. However, the chronic disease was still there.   She visited Hindu priests and paid them large sums of money to offer blood sacrifices on her behalf, but her health still did not improve. So her family hired Buddhist lama priests to pray for her healing, and paid them handsomely, but she continued to get sicker.   Finally, a friend told her that if she could find a Christian, they would pray for her for free, and that their God, Jesus, has the power to heal sicknesses. So the young woman searched and found one. He confirmed everything her friend had told her, including that Jesus has the power to heal and that he would pray for her free of charge. But he added, “If Jesus heals you, you will owe your allegiance to Him.” Two weeks later she returned and was examined by a medical doctor. She no longer had ankle edema, she had normal blood pressure, her lab tests were all good, and she was no longer on dialysis.   What do you think happened? A few days later she and her brother became believers and were baptized in water. There were also other family members who came to faith because of this miracle.   And best of all, she went back home and started a Discovery Bible Study. Before long, a dozen people from her remote village were attending her Discovery Group. Through one miracle, a whole village became exposed to the Gospel. **SHARE YOUR HEAL STORY!** ____________________________________________________________________ Copyright © Solid Lives, 2021 All rights reserved.
