The natural tendency for people is to be selfish. The world constantly says to “look out for #1” and always be sure to ask, “What’s in it for me?” But just because that’s the way the world lives doesn’t mean that’s the way God wants us to live.

In this lesson, the children will learn about a very important choice we all have to make—whether to be generous or to keep things just for ourselves. Being generous means we don’t hold on to everything tightly.

Through the story of the generous widow, the children will find out how being generous not only makes us feel good - it helps us live more like Jesus.

They will discover together why being generous is the best way to live and how it makes our world a much better place!

The Fantastic Four

Welcome to SLAM Online! Most Christians know we are supposed to tell others about Jesus. The sad thing is - many Christians cannot tell you the last time they actually shared their faith with a friend. One of the reasons so many Christians do not share their faith is because they are scared, they don’t know how, or they don’t realize it is their job. One of the last commands that Jesus gave His followers was to “Go into all the world and make disciples...” If you are a follower of Jesus, then it is your job to make disciples...period! In this lesson, the children will learn from the story of the four friends of the paralyzed man. They will understand that each of us must do whatever it takes to bring as many people to Jesus as possible.

A Boy and His Lunch

Welcome to SLAM Online! Very often, people sell themselves short. They begin to compare themselves to others - their talent, their abilities, their money, their family - and we convince ourselves that we have very little to offer God. God does not ask us to outperform, outgive, or outdo our friends and neighbors. God asks us to be faithful with what He has given us. No matter how “little” our lives may be, if we give God what we have, He will use us to accomplish big things for Him. In this lesson, the children will learn from the story of “A Boy And His Lunch.” They will understand that “little is much when God is in it!” No matter who you are or what you bring to the table, God is able to use your contribution to do miracles!

The Thankful Leper

Welcome to SLAM Online! In today’s “gimme” society, the idea of entitlement runs wild. It’s not unusual for people, including children, to have the “What’s in it for me?” mentality. It’s easy for all of us to forget that “every good and perfect gift comes from above.” We go through life experiencing God’s miraculous provision and forget to express gratitude and thankfulness. In this lesson, the children will learn from the story of the Ten Lepers— only one of which came back to thank Jesus for the miracle. They will learn that God’s children should always remember to thank Him for everything He has done and will continue to do. It's not enough just to feel thankful; we need to express that thankfulness to God.
