Who Rules Syria?

The rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) captured Damascus over the weekend, but Syria is divided between Sunni rebels, Turkish militia, Kurds, and Druze—and about 900 US soldiers.


Brief report today: Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad fled the country Saturday night and is reportedly in Moscow with his family, where they’ve been granted asylum. The question is what comes next in Syria.


Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday this is why Israel continues to hold the Golan Heights, which borders on Syria.
