1 Corinthians 6:1-11 - Gospel-Centered Relationships

This week, Pastor Jesse teaches out of 1 Corinthians 6, where Paul advises Christians against taking their disputes with other Christians to secular courts, suggesting they should rather resolve their differences within the church community. It emphasizes the importance of not wronging or defrauding each other, reminding believers of their transformation and inheritance of God's kingdom as they turn away from sinful behaviors. The passage encourages believers to live righteously, making amends and seeking justice through the wisdom and guidance of their faith community rather than relying on outside authorities.

1 Corinthians 5:1-13 - A Little Goes a Long Way: Lessons From Leaven

This week, Pastor Jesse picks it back up in 1 Corinthians 5, where Paul is addressing the issue of immorality within the church, specifically focusing on a case of sexual immorality that was being tolerated among its members. There is an emphasis on the importance of church discipline and the need for purity within the Christian community, urging the church to take action against the immoral behavior. We see the metaphor of leaven, suggesting that just a little sin, if unaddressed, can affect the whole Church Body, and teaches the principle of not associating with those who blatantly sin, to preserve the integrity of the church.

This week, Pastor Brad Beers conitunues in chapter 4, where Paul uses irony to address the arrogance of some Corinthians who believe they have achieved spiritual superiority. He contrasts their self-satisfaction with the apostles' hardships, illustrating true discipleship through humility and suffering. Paul then expresses his fatherly concern for their spiritual well-being, announcing his plan to visit and challenge their boastful claims, preferring to use gentle correction but prepared to be stern if necessary.
