These two disciples are serving Jesus and that is enough. We do not need the accolades of man; we have the acknowledgment of our heavenly father! We know we should seek to serve God and trust he will provide for our needs.
God gives people a choice to respond to his calling. The words used by the disciples; “‘The Lord has need of it,” directly translates as “a person exercising absolute ownership rights.” Do you allow the Lord to have absolute ownership of your life?
Lastly, we need to follow Jesus’ example of humility. Jesus chose a beast of burden, an animal of servitude to make his grand entrance. This was a triumph of humility over pride, of poverty over affluence, and of meekness over rage.
