In life, we often encounter situations and circumstances where we’re not sure what to do. Where the future or the past, or even the present seems dark and uncertain. In those instances, it’s important to place our faith and trust in God, knowing that He’s in control and wants what’s best for his children. Jesus is the light of the world, and he will guide us and help us see life from his perspective. In this sermon, we look at the importance of our faith, our story, our God, and how we can persevere – even in the hard times.

Wandering in the Water

In John 6:15-21, we see Jesus retreating to the mountain to pray, while His disciples set off across the sea. As night falls, they encounter a fierce storm. Amidst their struggle, Jesus approaches them, walking on the water. Initially terrified, the disciples soon recognize Him. Jesus reassures them, saying, "It is I; do not be afraid." Upon welcoming Him into their boat, they immediately reach their destination. In our storms, we can find peace knowing that Jesus is sovereign over all. By seeking Him in prayer and welcoming His presence, we navigate life’s challenges with faith and assurance.

Water into Wine

In John 2, Jesus performs His first recorded miracle in the Gospel of John by turning water into wine at a wedding celebration. In this miracle, Jesus shows His divine authority over all things and foreshadows the restoration of joy for God’s people when He brings His kingdom to earth.
