We are now entering the main body of Paul’s letter to the Colossians. Up to this point Paul had talked about how the Colossians had received Christ and what that meant. Now, as Paul gets into the main section of the letter, the focus shifts to telling the Colossians to continue to live their lives for Jesus, whom they had received. In our passage this week Paul contrasts the gospel tradition handed down from Jesus with “human tradition”, which does not originate from God. We will look at a couple aspects of this gospel tradition and see why the gospel is better than anything the world could offer us.
