It's leaf raking time! Raking leaves is one of those seasonal jobs that can be glorious, especially on those brisk fall afternoons when the leaves are dry and they crackle at the first swipe of the rake. The rustling of leaves as they are blown around by the wind and float on the air is such a pleasant sight and sound. The Scriptures are clear that a dying leaf is an emblem. Let's go outside today and ponder the meaning of a fading leaf as it is blown around by the autumn breeze.

It is deer hunting season. Archery, rifle, muzzleloader, flintlock, a wonderful time to be in the woods! Sitting in a blind or a tree stand in the fall is one of the best times of the year for creation meditation. The quiet and stillness of hunting is perfect for biblical meditation on God's creation. Take some time to prepare your mind and heart for hunting by reading or listening to the devotional, or better yet, use the "Do Your Own Deer Meditation" as a guide to direct your thoughts to the emblem of deer and all the associative connections between deer, God's Word, and the truths of God's world.

The hunt is on! Hunter orange is the color of the season and it is easy to spot in the fields and in passing pickup trucks. If you are a deer hunter then this meditation is especially for you. However, regardless of whether you hunt or not, this meditation on antlers/horns is relevant for you! Horns are a significant emblem in the Bible. Take some time this season to consider horns.
