Rejoicing in Our Great Salvation: Rejoice In God's Power

Passage: 1 Peter 1:5

September 4, 2016 • Pastor Marc Wragg

Can you lose your salvation? Many Bible passages plainly teach that we have a responsibility to walk in faith, to examine our heart, and to guard ourselves against self-deception. But the Scriptures also say that our faith is protected by the power of God. So which is it? Do we work to keep ourselves in the faith, or is this God’s work? Faith is the gift of God, not the work of man. Yet true faith is active, not passive, and it is evidenced by a pattern of trusting God in the difficulties of life and walking in righteousness. It is through this faith that He protects us as we respond to the good works He sets before us, and are increasingly conformed into the image of His Son. So as we encounter various struggles in the Christian life, we must hold these truths in proper biblical balance. When you are tempted to doubt and sin, remember that He has called you to godliness. And as you respond in faith, rejoice in the certainty of His saving work in you.
