Summer 2018 - Yes, and...together
DOWN TO EARTHNESS
August 19, 2018 • Sara Wolbrecht
Looking at the history of the Christian church, it may be surprising to hear that the Bible points us NOT toward a church building as the sacred place where we encounter God, but reveals that all time and space is sacred. What does it take to say YES, AND to our God who comes to us disguised as our life?
ANNA'S STORY
August 12, 2018 • Anna Offenwanger, Sara Wolbrecht
Stories matter - which is why at Salt House, we make room to share our stories, listening for the holy and listening for resonance in our shared stories. Anna Offenwanger shares her Salt House Story - wrestling through what it means to say YES, AND when we don't know where it will lead us.
HEARING GOD - LECTIO DIVINA
August 5, 2018 • Sara Wolbrecht
Is God still speaking? What does it mean to hear God? In the language of our current sermon series: how do we say YES, AND to hearing God? We explore the landscape of listening through our regular practice of Lectio Divina. Join us as we listen, together.

PRIVILEGE
July 22, 2018 • Sara Wolbrecht
Jesus, perhaps the most powerful human to walk this planet, used the power and privilege he had to stand in solidarity with the poor and oppressed. As we wrestle with how to embody Jesus' radical, counter-cultural example, we are invited to look for practical ways to recognize and say YES, AND to our power and privilege for the sake of those who are underprivileged and oppressed.
WRITING OUR YES
July 15, 2018 • Sara Wolbrecht
One of our core practices at Salt House is that STORIES MATTER. God's story, our collective story, and our personal stories. Today, we spend time by reflecting on our own stories through the process of writing about how and when we've said YES! Grab a pen and paper!
VOCATION
July 8, 2018 • Shelly Bryan Wee
We welcome Pastor Shelley Bryan Wee to Salt House! Pastor Shelley currently serves as Assistant to the Bishop of the Northwest Washington Synod (ELCA). She has been intimately involved in our process of becoming an independent congregation (you may recognize her from our April 29th meeting where we voted on all the things). Shelly will be sharing a word on VOCATION while Pastor Sara is on VACATION : )
THE COST OF YES
July 1, 2018 • Sara Wolbrecht
Salt House is BRAND http://new...well, sort of. Today, we celebrate our first Sunday as an independent, recognized congregation of the ELCA. And it's an important day as we say THANK YOU to all the folks from Trinity Lutheran Church who graciously said the costly "yes" which allowed the space for Salt House to be born.
EMBODIED
June 17, 2018 • Sara Wolbrecht
At Jesus' resurrection, his most transcendent moment, the moment that set him apart from the rest of humankind, he remained recognizably one of us. He came back wearing skin. He did not leave his body behind. You see, the Jesus story is one that includes our bodies as deeply spiritual - yet this is contrary to what we often hear from Christian pulpits. How can we reclaim the sacred ordinariness of the skin we live in?
