WHAT IS GOD SAYING? - Lectio Divina

At Salt House, we have a core practice of Hearing God - capturing how we believe that there is holiness all around us, that a Jesus-centered life is one of paying attention and listening. One way we do this is through our regular practice of Lectio Divina - in worship on Sunday, we listen to a passage of scripture, hearing God, hearing connections to our lives and world now. It is that simple - as we build in us the practice of listening, as we learn how to love.
HYLA'S STORY

This part two of a three-part series of messages over these summer months that invite us into deeper understanding of our core practice of engaging with the needs of homelessness in our region. Hyla has been around Salt House for a couple years and is part of the New Bethlehem Day Center family. She has been involved with the work of the Day Center on many levels, both as a former client and now as an advocate and volunteer! Thank you, Hyla, for sharing your story with us.

This Sunday, we welcome back Rabbi Ted Falcon as we turn to parts of the Creation Story in Genesis (and one of God's questions found there), letting our questions form (and form us), together.

During our First Sunday Feast Pastor Sara invites us to consider the story of Zaccheus. As Jesus extends the invitation to eat with this less-than-respected man, we have to ask ourselves some questions: 1. What’s happening at the tables in your life? 2. Who are you eating with these days? 3. Who are the people in your life who our society considers “on the fringes”? 4. What are your rhythms of eating with others – what COULD be your rhythms? 5. Who do you want to have dinner with this summer? One neighbor, friend, family member. 6. When was a time you were invited to a table?
Forming Questions - Series Trailer

This summer, as the days get longer and our rhythms shift, we turn our attention to the questions that we often ask. Questions like Who am I? How can I live well? What do I believe? What should I do next? These are questions that we form when we've got space to wonder and wander in the rhythms of grace. And, these questions, if we dare to 'really' ask them, can form us and who we are becoming. Join us this summer at Salt House as explore our own questions and the many good questions we find in the Bible, together.
