Pastor Ryan takes us on a very brief review of all that has happened at Salt House in 2023 and what to expect as we head in to 2024 together.
End-of-Year Stewardship Engagement Update
December 28, 2023 • Ryan Marsh
This season, we've worked to increase our stewardship engagement at Salt House. This is less of a DOLLAR amount and more of a PEOPLE amount. Pastor Ryan shares some good news about the goals we've set! As a reminder, here are out three stewardship engagement goals:
1. Perhaps you're new to Salt House and haven't yet made a financial commitment. We are looking for 5 first time givers to sign up for regular monthly giving.
2. Maybe you're been giving regularly, but this season your capacity for giving has increased. We are looking for 10 regular givers to increase their giving because of their increased capacity.
3. The end of the year is a time when folks often give one-time gifts. We're looking for 10 givers to consider making an end-of-year gift beyond their regular giving.
Thank you for your faithfulness and generosity with the Salt House Community!
Regifting Jesus (Christmas Eve)
December 24, 2023 • Ryan Marsh • Matthew 7:10, Luke 2:1–20, Luke 11:11
Merry Christmas! Jesus' birth across the four gospels looks different. But one thing they can all agree on is that God's gift to us the promise of "with-ness": God With Us. What does it mean to receive this gift and also, understand that it's a gift big enough to share, to re-gift!
Salt House Nativity + Matthew's Gospel
December 17, 2023 • Zach Herzog, Ryan Marsh • Matthew 1:18–24
We proudly present the annual Salt House Nativity Play performed by our Salt House youth and families! Written by Lucy Auer. Directed by Ryan Marsh. Casting by Rachel Horton. Plus, Zach Herzog rounds out our Advent Journey through the Gospels with a short homily on God With Us according to Matthew's Gospel.
God With us According to Luke's Gospel
December 10, 2023 • Karen Ullery • Luke 1:26–38
The Gospel of Luke gives us a unique look into "God With Us," which is totally different Christmas flavor than how the other three Gospels tell it. Luke centers on Mary and the Holy Spirit. This Sunday, we invite Karen Ullery (who is also leading our Advent Yoga sessions on Wednesdays) to share a good word with us. Prepare to be filled with awe, wonder, and goodness.
God With Us According to Mark's Gospel
December 3, 2023 • Zach Herzog • Mark 1:1–11
The Gospel of Mark is weird. It has all these demon stories. Jesus is kind of moody (and secretive.) There's like barely even a resurrection at the end. But yet, the gospel writer insists that this story is good news. So what is Mark's take on this Christmas mystery of "God With Us"?
God With Us According to John's Gospel
November 26, 2023 • Ryan Marsh • John 1:1–14
Advent at Salt House: this season, we are going to be looking at how each gospel tells the Christmas story a little differently. And sometimes, we try to harmonize these stories--but not this year! This year, we are going to look at the differences. Because the differences matter! God shows up to all of us in different ways too. So we will look at all the different ways the people of God have come to experience the mystery of God With Us -- and we'll see some ways of seeing that God is still with us.
