The Gospel According to Ebenezer Scrooge
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come
December 19, 2021
This week we talk about conviction and our future. What is God saying to us when we feel convicted of sin or something else in our lives? What sort of attitude should we have toward our future that can "Renew our minds" and transform our lives today? Take some time to read Matthew 6:19-21, Colossians 3:1-3, Psalms 78:4, John 3:30, and Acts 13:36 and consider what they say about the Christians attitude toward the future.
The Ghost of Christmas Present
December 12, 2021
This week we consider what kind of relationship God calls us to have with our present and how that can help to renew our minds. Specifically, we are going to talk about being aware - being aware of ourselves, others, and the blessings God has given us. Take some time to read Psalm 118:24, Isaiah 43:18-19, Matthew 6:34, 1 Timothy 4:16, Philippians 2:4, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and reflect on what they call you to be aware of.
The Ghost of Christmas Past
December 5, 2021
This week, in our first service in our new worship center, we are continuing our series titled "The Gospel According to Ebenezer Scrooge" in which we are using Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" as a parable to help us understand the Biblical process God uses to transform us by the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2). This week we look at how God means to renew our minds through our past. Read the following texts and consider what a healthy attitude towards our past should be. Deuteronomy 4:9; Proverbs 24:16; 26:11; Ecclesiastes 7:10; Matthew 18:21-22, John 8:36; Romans 12:2; 15:4; 1 Corinthians 15:9; Philippians 4:13; 1 Timothy 1:15; 1 John 1:9
