6:00 - 7:30pm

The Pilgrim’s Progress is considered one of the greatest Christian classics of all time, an allegorical tale that vividly illustrates the deepest struggles Christians face as they walk in this life with God. Written by John Bunyan from the dark confines of an English prison cell and published in 1678, it has been the most widely read Christian book other than the Bible. C. S. Lewis described it as “a book that has astonished the whole world.” Charles Spurgeon, the great English preacher, said he read it at least a hundred times, and next to the Bible was the book he valued most. Join me on March 3rd for a six-week journey where we will read this classic book together and find ourselves walking along with Christian as he faces various trials and temptations on his journey from the City of Destruction to Mount Zion. We will draw many connections to God’s Word and our own pilgrimage of faith, perseverance, and the pursuit of eternal joy. Recommended Resources In addition to the unabridged text, there are many revised and adapted versions that have been published. Some are better than others. For this course, I recommend you purchase a copy of The Pilgrim’s Progress, Faithfully Retold by Cheryl V. Ford (Tyndale House, 2016), available in both digital and paperback formats. This edition updates the archaic seventeenth-century language without taking great liberties to embellish the story on the one hand and without subtracting from it on the other. It communicates to our modern generation in a language that is easy to read while still sounding like John Bunyan. See You on the Path, Pastor Dave Childcare is provided.
