1. God created our bodies
You formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
—Psalm 139:13-14
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
—Mark 12:30
———
2. Sin affects our bodies
The creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
—Romans 8:20-23
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’
—Genesis 3:1-3
3 Factors That Hinder Our Efforts

3. Christ will transform our bodies
Strengthen your body to serve God with the time he has given you!
While bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
—1 Timothy 4:8

Training your body helps build up your godliness in 3 ways:
1. It helps me fight sin
2. It helps me serve the good of others
3. It helps me display the power and value of Jesus

Our Bodies: A Living Sacrifice
Speaker: Rev. George Mah
Scripture: Romans 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
—Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
