The Wisdom Of God

1 Corinthians 2:1-13

March 5, 2014 • Pastor John Miller

“And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power…What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words”—I Corinthians 2:1-13

God’s word is divine power and this is what Paul is saying. Put your faith in God and his truth and not in man and human ability. The Holy Spirit seeks, convicts and converts. The Holy Ghost who is one with the Father and the Son knows all things and searches the deep things of God. It is the power of God that saves and the wisdom and natural power of man cannot add any might or authority to God’s word. As each believer reads and hears the Scriptures the Holy Spirit will reveal God’s truth and experience God’s sanctifying power.

Pastor John Miller continues our series through the book of 1 Corinthians with an expository message through 1 Corinthians 2:1-13 titled, The Wisdom of God.
