I Need Direction

Acts 13:1-5 • January 21, 2018 • Pastor Léonce B. Crump Jr.

We determine our direction with God as an afterthought. We weigh the costs. We decide a course. We make a move in a particular direction, whether vocationally, or relationally, or with respect to homes, community etc. We decide which way we should go, and then maybe, just maybe, consider what God might think about our direction. There are innumerable issues with approaching life like this, particularly for those of us who follow Jesus. But the primary problem is that we deprive ourselves of the wisdom of the One who makes the world turn… who tells the Sun to rise… who puts breath in our lungs… who set the boundaries between earth and sea… surely He who lives outside time will know which way we are to go… Of this we can be sure, God gives direction through prayer and fasting. If we seek Him with earnest devotion, He will show us which way we should go. Need | I Need Direction | Acts 13:1-5

I Need Deliverance

2 Chronicles 20:1-21 • January 14, 2018 • Pastor Léonce B. Crump Jr.

What do you do when your back is against the wall? What do you do when there is no easy way out? What do you do when you find yourself in a situation in which is not easily identifiable? What do you do when you find yourself in a situation from which you cannot “save” yourself? What do you do? If we are honest, our first response probably isn't asking God for help. What is it about even the committed follower of Jesus that makes us treat God as a last resort in desperate times? And for the follower of Jesus, this is the absolute worst thing we can possibly do. Why would we try to think our way out BEFORE going to God, rather than thinking our way through WHILE submitting all things to Him and His mighty hand? If we are in tune with our minds as it relates to our relationship with Him, we know that is usually when the light bulb goes off, and the solutions come quickly—AFTER we have spent time asking God to deliver us in our desperation. Here is a truism you must never forget—God desires to be our Deliverer, He wants us to come to Him FIRST. Need | I Need Deliverance | 2 Chronicles 20:1-21

I Need Answers

Daniel 10:1-21 • January 7, 2018 • Pastor Léonce B. Crump Jr.

For many of us, fasting is an outdated practise for super-spiritual people—if we even believe it has any relevance at all. Let us just be honest about it. We know that some of us are thinking to ourselves, “I believe Fasting is important…” OK, but do you believe it is essential? And if you do believe it is important, when is the last time you did it? We say all of this because, with the sheer number of distractions in our lives, mounted on top of a regularly vacillating Faith, we need to regularly Fast for our own benefit, but also to recentre and remind us where our help comes from and who ultimately has the answers we need. God is not silent, in fact He is almost always speaking to us in some way, great or small. And God always answers, but we must be diligent to seek Him, and be patient in our waiting as we pursue an answer through Fasting and prayer. This we see today in this very brief glimpse into the life and faith of a simple man who has a very complex experience as he seeks an answer from the God he loves. Let’s look together.
