Sinai, the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years, and Jesus began his earthly ministry with 40 days of fasting. The word "Lent" is derived from a Greek term, which means "Fortieth," and it marks the 40 day period preceding Easter. Lent is a season in which we, in our hearts, enter into the desert with Jesus, denying ourselves, and reflecting, as we journey through the scriptures toward the cross.
