May 19, 2019 • Ronnie Rothe

MAIN POINT: "Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus. It’s evidence of salvation, not a requirement for it." KEY VERSE: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19 CHALLENGE QUESTION: "If you’ve put your faith in Jesus but haven’t been baptized since, would you take the next step to be?" SCRIPTURE REFERENCES: Matthew 28:19, Mark 7:4, Luke 11: 38 SUMMARY: Originally, "baptism" was not a religious concept. Yet over time, baptism has become an exclusively religious idea. Are you confused about what baptism is all about? Does it seem like a weird practice? Unsure if baptism is a next step for YOU? In this sermon, we explore the purpose of baptism, what Jesus and the writers of Scripture had to say about it, and why it’s so important for us today!

MAIN POINT Avoiding the trap of disconnection requires intentionality. KEY VERSE “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." – 1 Peter 5:8 CHALLENGE QUESTION How can you begin to put your heart and mind out there again? ADDITIONAL SCRIPTURE REFERENCES Luke 19:1-10

KEY VERSE “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." – 2 Corinthians 4:18 CHALLENGE QUESTION How can you begin to put your heart and mind out there again?
